“Lets Have this in cucumber salad” said Ling showing me some Bac Ha. News to me, it looked like small taro leaves and stalk. “It’s Bac Ha” said Ling, “we have it with our salads”. She showed me how it compared with Taro, holding it up against her Mum’s prize Taro patch plants.
A quick flurry of chopping and mixing in the mortar and we are sitting down to a refreshing cucumber salad. “Break off a piece of the Bac Ha peeled stalk and use like a spoon”. Totally refreshing and fascinating.

- Bac Ha leaf. Cashew nuts, tomatoe and lime to add some zing. chilli not shown, but tasted.
- That’s a peeled Bac Ha stalk. Snap a bit off and scoop up the salad with it.
