Ling is keen to share this good news about raw food, meat free nutrition, vegetarian and how Lao people have been doing that deliciously as part of their daily life.
About Ling
Hi Yuen Ling here. My name is Chinese for quick-witted swallow.
I was born in Laos in a Chinese Teo Chew family. We had a restaurant and farm so I learnt cooking from when I was in my mother’s tummy and soaked up farming life. There was a lot of trauma while growing up, but a lot of spiritual help from Kuan Yin and later Buddhism. That direct help gave me security and reassurance. Nature gave me a strength due to friendship and loving eyes from the geese and pigs we had and from roaming the forest with my Lao friends. All up life is now seen with different glasses. Now, I look beyond the trauma to love life and to give service. Being touched and inspired by that help, I am inspired to be in service of others.
We came to Australia as refugees from the communist regime decades ago. Now I am a happy true blue. I love Australia. I even found a wonderful husband here, Tom. We are sharing a happy life together as we walk through these fascinating times. I am a happy grandmother with three gorgeous grandchildren.
From all of this RawLao has sprung into life.
Vision
Foundations
To practice the balance of wisdom and compassion in life. This gives equanimity in life.
Part of that wisdom of seeing beyond my feeling of separate self, powered under its own steam. Even when the boundary feels like it is at my skin, applying the wisdom to know that I am interconnected with every other and I am in a state of interbeing. Every other of other people, the animals, the plants and the whole of the ‘full of life’ planet.
Here I find equanimity having my human place in this interbeing. My life is fundamentally supported by that interbeing and I support the life of that.
Compassion goes hand in glove with this wisdom. Connecting with myself and taking care of myself. Partaking of quality thinking for my mind, putting quality food into my body, practicing quality exercise. Extending that compassion to others, taking care as I can, having an attitude of care for all.
Here I find equanimity.
Caring about myself and then with compassion for others I care about what is outside of me. This ‘full of life’ planet included.
Bringing the compassion and wisdom together I see the world through new eyes. Seeing the suffering of animals and respecting their own life, why should I eat them? Wanting what is healthy for my body and knowing the nutrition of a plant based diet, why should I not enjoy that?
Here I find equanimity.
Putting care into practice, feeling grounded, light and energized.
Aspirations
The aspirations that I have include
Having loving relationships.
Living simply.
Working with health, spirit and economy.
Have an attitude of gratitude.
In these times of The Great Work having a focus on making a livable planet.
Origin of Rawlao
Offering others enjoyment of simple dishes, packed with nutrition and taste.
A space to relax, to enjoy, to be and to have fun.
To reconnect, rebuild, reestablish within oneself and others, mother nature and the elements
To offer happiness, joy, good health, inspiration, pleasure, longevity, wealth and peace.
To purify ones heart, mind and thought through cooking, gardening, Tai Chi and keeping the planet livable.
Offer pathways to allow people reconnect to nature. This is a coming home, coming home to our home of mother earth.
To show ways to re-open the inner doorway to the world of self which is already contented, blessed and abundant.
To return services to the eco-systems of our planet.
Inspirations
RawLao is inspired by Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Humanistic Buddhism.
The 4 Givings particularly are energizing. They are give Hope, Joy, Convenience, Confidence
Conscious Composition
Does consciously composing our initiatives and our minds set our sail as we navigate through life?
Raw Lao’s composition is resolve, boldness, confidence in self, energetic, exciting, enthusiastic, courage, gratitude, attractive, opportunity, enjoyment, peace, strength, trust, freedom of space and time, giving and receiving, service, support, fun, friendship, flavor, love.
And more no doubt. And practice makes perfect on all these! Practise; Tai Chi, gardening, massage, ecotherapy, diet, spiritual practise…
